Even today in Mumbai, one liter is Rs 96.83 for petrol and Rs 87.81 per liter for diesel. Information about these rates has been received from the website of Indian Oil Corporation. The retail sales of petrol and diesel are charged by the central government and the state government up to Rs 60 and Rs 54 per liter, respectively. The central government is collecting a tax of Rs 32.90 on every liter of petrol and Rs 31.80 on diesel.
