The government can start giving one crore free gas connections to poor families and migrant laborers under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Under Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojna-3
one-crore gas connections will be given free of cost across the country. This was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the budget for the year 2021-22. But due to the implementation of the code of conduct for the assembly elections of five states, this declaration could not be implemented. Now the government is ready to distribute free gas connections.
The government, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is completing two years of its second term on May 30. In such a situation, it is expected that the Petroleum Ministry can start distributing free gas connections from this day itself. For this, public sector companies have issued standard operating procedures (SOP) to gas agencies. So that it can identify the beneficiaries.
Free LPG Connections Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
The SOP issued by the government states that migrant laborers will also be entitled to get free gas connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Provided that there is an adult woman in the family seeking a gas connection. Migrant laborers have to submit affidavits in place of address documents. The concerned authorities can release the connection after investigation.
In the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna-3, women from SC / ST poor families will be given preference. With this, more connections can be issued in those states where the density of LPG is less than the national average. Under the scheme, the government will also provide a gas cylinder of 14 forts along with five forts. The five-kg cylinder is for migrant families.
These provisions will be
* - Government will give a subsidy of 1600 rupees on a 14.2 kg gas cylinder. While the government will bear Rs 1150 per connection on cylinders from five kilos. This includes the security of the cylinder, the price of the regulator, the cost of the pipe, and the distributor.
* - The beneficiary will have to bear the cost of buying a gas stove and filling the cylinder. However, the loan facility will be available to the beneficiary. Its price will be met by the subsidy on gas cylinders. No amount will have to be paid to the beneficiary.
* - A five kg gas cylinder costs less than a 14.2 kg cylinder. In this case, this difference in price will be credited to the cost of filling the gas stove and cylinder. The beneficiary who brings a cylinder of five forts will also have the option of taking a burner stove.
